Our unique Cycle adventure takes you from one stunning location to the next. Highlights include The Atlantic Road, Isfjorden, Trollstigan (the Troll Staircase), and Hjørundford. This is a truly world class bike and cruise.
You will spend each day cycling through the most beautiful and inspiring scenery anywhere on earth.
It’s hard to imagine a better way to finish off the day than by sitting back on our deck taking in the beauty of the Fjords with a drink before dinner.
Gåssten, your vessel for the trip, is a beautifully restored naval vessel, one of the last wooden Swedish Navy ships ever built. Converted to a very high standard, she sleeps 10 in a combination of double and twin berths each with their own ensuite bathroom and original features. All of the cabins either served as the original officers’ quarters or munitions stores. This is an opportunity to experience a piece of Swedish Naval History.
There can be no better way to experience Norway’s stunning coastline, than aboard this unique and elegantly converted wooden naval ship. Read full details about our beautiful vessel and her recent refit here, Gåssten.
On the first day of your Norwegian Cycling Adventure, your guides will meet you and help you set up your bikes.
Once your bike has been set up and is ready to roll, you will meet other guests on board and your guide will go over the itinerary for the week. With long summer evenings, there will be an opportunity to go out for a short spin in the foothills to shake out the cobwebs from a long day of travel.
When we return to the boat our captain will raise anchor from Molde harbour, heading for our first night anchorage on the Veyoya Island. The adventure has most definitely begun!
Your talented chef, who has been working all day in the galley, will serve dinner onboard in the boat’s comfortable dining room and you’ll savour your first, delicious three course meal of the trip. You can enjoy the last of your dinner wine on deck, before retiring to your cabin for a very good night’s sleep on this remarkably stable boat.
You will awake to the smell of fresh coffee and the gentle creaking of the boat at anchor.
Climb out onto deck to breathe in the fresh, clean air of the fjords, before sitting down to a fabulous breakfast.
There is a short transfer from your anchorage into the harbour, and from here we will roll out of town and head west towards the Atlantic Ocean.
Todays ride is an out and back to the famous Atlantic Highway, a series of bridges and tunnels that run alongside the wild Atlantic Ocean.
The riding is rolling without any major climbs. This is the perfect ride to get the legs used to some solid kilometres.
On our return to Molde the boat has prepared itself to move to the local anchorage where you can do a spot of fishing, stand up paddle boarding or swimming. Refreshments will be served on board before enjoying a few well-earned beers with dinner.
Gåssten will steam from her anchorage to Molde to start our day of Fjord Riding.
Today’s ride leaves from Molde and heads North East. Although the ride is long, the elevation is not challenging and we rarely rise too far above the Fjords.
After 30km of fairly flat road the pitch kicks up to an elevation of 200m. We make a large loop around the mountain of Kjerringnebba and come south on a rolling road with TingvollFjord on our left.
Turning right, away from the fjord we connect with the coast road along the Northern edge of Langfjorden below the shadows of Grønfellet and Skåla. We eventually reach our secluded anchorage for the night for an evening of swimming, paddle boarding or relaxing. By now are legs are fit and strong and ready for the amazing riding day that awaits tomorrow.
This is one of the greatest days you will ever have on a bike. Switchbacks, waterfalls, and high mountain passes…
This is a big day out! After a hearty breakfast, we will leave the dock at Andalsnes and spin the first 10km to the foot of the Troll’s Staircase. A steep climb over 10km awaits, but the scenery and views will take your mind off any kind of struggle.
This is a spectacular place, almost too much for your eyes to take in, and you may even spot the occasional wing-suited adrenaline junkie flying past as you grind the gears.
At the top we can stop for a quick coffee and take some pictures, but there are still many kilometres to cover.
Putting on a couple of layers is a good idea as the next 40km is pretty much down hill until we reach the waters edge in Valdallen.
We then skirt round the Eastern edge of StorFjord and make our way back to RomsdalFjord. Depending on legs we can cut the ride short by 20km and be picked up by the boat.
Todays ride will be etched in your memory forever and will be well worth the effort.
The boat moves from Molde to Ålesund today giving the option to rest weary legs and relax onboard.
If you are riding today, then we roll out of town to the nearby ferry terminal. From here we catch the ferry to Vestnes across the water.
Today is a relatively short day at 85km with only one major climb at 18km. There will be plenty of stops today as we don’t want to beat the boat back to Ålesund! There is the option for lunch at the iconic Storfjord Hotel, a real treat.
Today is all about spinning the legs out after the ride on the previous day.
When we arrive in Ålesund there is the opportunity to explore this pretty town before the boat heads out to anchor for the night.
The boat will start her engines early to steam towards the mighty Hjørunfjord. This is the last day of riding, so it might as well be epic!
We moor up in the tiny village of Sæbo on the western edge of the Fjord. We are surrounded by towering mountains and breathtaking scenery.
Todays ride has four climbs, but none that rise further than 300m in elevation. But be warned, the riding is wild and remote with little opportunity for coffee stops apart from the small village of Volda at the halfway point.
When our ride has come to an end, we are picked up by tender at the very bottom of Hjørunfjord in a quiet and secluded anchorage.
From here we will make our way north on the boat and overnight somewhere peaceful in this spectacular Fjord.
